Gains in more ways than one.

I started training with Mark Featherstone back in January 2017 when he returned to Powerhouse Gym . He was recommended to me by my former trainer who was moving out of the area. My goal was to compete in a figure competition. I was a bit hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if Marks training methods would work for me. I was in pretty good condition, but I still needed more work to be done .We discussed my injuries and how heavy I've lifted . He reassured me I wouldn't be doing anything He didn't think I was capable of and would always work around my injuries. Fast forward to my first training session, LEG day or as Mark calls it Leg liquidation day. He warmed me up ,went over every exercise ,checked my form. I felt very comfortable in the squat rack/leg press because he was spotting me ,motivating me to commit with every rep. Over the past 4 months I've gone from squats of 135 to 185, leg press 170 to 450, extensions 105 to 180. I became more comfortable with Mark session after session. His hands on technique teaches about muscle groups I didn't even know existed . He always explains which muscles you are working and what they are for. Seeing muscles appear I've never seen before made everything he said make sense. Mark has helped me to see the potential I have for bodybuilding and to understand my physique is meant to have a good size and being muscular is not a bad thing for a woman . I recently competed in two shows placing fourth figure masters in my first show. The prep wasn't easy, but Mark was always there to encourage me to keep pushing through. I learned a lot from these two shows to help me prepare for my future shows and be able to move up in categories. I look forward to my next 10 weeks of training to make more gains than the first round. Being a natural competitor and having a knowledgeable trainer to help sculpt my physique and know exactly what needs to change by simply looking at me is important. I am very thankful to Mark for all he's done to help me get to where I am now .We can only make more gains from here.One thing for sure I have gained a great trainer and friend. Learn from the best

I have known of Mark for years through the MMA community but never got the chance/pleasure to train with him until last December. He offered me a free training session that I took him up on and instantly saw my training was lacking. I walked into the gym that day thinking I knew it all, but I was certainly wrong. I hired him immediately after that workout. Mark tweaked exercises for me that I once never got anything out of and instantly made them my new favorites. Its minute details that he notices that truly makes all the difference in the world. Its not only that but the motivation Mark brings with him to the gym each and every day. He helps you get through the days you don't want to be there and he makes your body far exceed what your mind believes it can do. I came to him believing I could only squat and deadlift 225lbs. I now deadlift over 500lbs and can squat 315lbs for reps. Never would I have imagined putting those numbers up last December. Over the months Mark has taught me a ton and I'm lucky to call him a friend more so than a trainer. If your even considering a personal trainer give one workout a try with Mark and you will be hooked!

I can't even begin to explain how honored I am to have learned from Mark. I met Mark back in January through a mutual friend which lead to an internship opportunity that I didn't even hesitate to take advantage of it. I learned more in those three weeks then I did in any course. Being able to watch the way Mark works with and pushes his clients is amazing. I can honestly say I've never met a person who can motivate everyone in an entire room to push themselves to the absolute limit and then beyond that. ....Where do I start

So, I've been now working with the Beast since January. I work every Saturday with Mark and cannot imagine making the progress I have, without him. When I started with Mark, I couldn't squat at all due to an injury that has resulted in no feeling from the left knee to foot. I am now squatting 5 sets of 95lbs. Steadily. I even was able to increase my weight today to 115lbs. :). I have had a transformation that even I can notice. I work out on average 6 days per week (although he tells me 5 is max), and have consistently done so since working with him. I have increased my weights consistently in every workout and have noticed definite gains in my muscle mass. I will be 50 years old next year and have never felt so strong or confident that I can reach my goals. Mark has not only given me the confidence to increase my weights, but has also relieved me of my fear of injury. I cannot recommend a better person to help you reach your goals and have made a wonderful friend in the process. Thank you Mark for all you have done to make me a better me!!! <3

I have worked with several trainers over the years all for different goals. I started working with Mark in January 2017 with the goal of getting stronger. Because of his skill and expertise, and my will to succeed, we have accomplished that. He has pushed me in a positive way beyond my comfort zone and helped me reach new personal bests. I’m a petite woman. When I started, I had never done a deadlift. Now I can move 185lbs with no fear. He pushed me beyond my personal goal of 165lbs on a barbell squat to 225lbs. I can see my body starting to change and my confidence starting to rise. I have decided to participate in my 2nd fitness competition with the help and guidance of Mark. I can’t wait to see where he takes me from here!

Cannot express enough how wonderful Mark is as a personal trainer. My wife and I have adjusted our fitness goals several times since 2006ish. Mark is the second trainer that I have ever hired, and while my first was excellent, Mark has taken me beyond fears to a whole new level. I started with HIIT boot camps at Powerhouse in 2014 when I retired from the CG. They were amazing and I made some real progress and got fit. When we both decided to hire Mark separately we each had our own goals. Mark has pushed me past plateaus that I didn't know I had. I had real fears with old injuries, but Mark is the living embodiment of many of the same injuries I have, and how to get through them. He has assisted me in increasing my squats, flexibility, and confidence. I've nearly doubled my leg presses thanks to his skill, knowledge and just plain "in your face" mentality. 26 years in the military makes it easy for me to trust him as a subject matter expert, a leader who expects nothing but the best, and gives the same in return. I Heart Deadlifts!

So I wanted to learn how to do a proper deadlift. I had never worked with a personal trainer before, but I had been doing (what I thought were proper) deadlifts for several years. I was of the impression that I could learn everything I needed to know from books and fitness magazines, yet I kept hurting my lower back. I was afraid I was going to have to hang up the Deads as they were always the culprit. And then Mark came into my world at Anytime Fitness in Plymouth, MA. I discovered that I had a lot to learn – but even far more to gain!! Mark pushes you beyond limits that you don’t know you are capable of, but he knows you are capable of. I am absolutely amazed at the progress and gains I have made. With Mark’s keen eye and some adjustments in my form I have far surpassed limits I could not have ever imagined. While he can push you to and through your extremes (ask me about his workout called “A Special Kind of Hell”), he is also exceptional at adjusting your workouts as needed to work within your limitations. For example, I tweaked my lower back a few months ago. I explained my situation to Mark, and he changed up my back routine for the day. By the time I got home, my back was feeling incredibly better! I was completely healed in less than a week as opposed to being out of commission for three to four weeks. No missed gym, no missed work. UNBELIEVEABLE!! He is highly knowledgeable of the human body and its mechanics, and extraordinarily intuitive with both your capabilities and your limitations. These strengths, in combination with his gifted vision as an artist and sculptor create a product that is both mechanically sound and pain free. I am absolutely thrilled with what I see and how I feel! You simply can’t get the kind of experience from books and magazines that you can from working with a person like Mark. His dedication and commitment is inspirational, and I am very fortunate to have met Mark and to be working with him. I have known Mark for several years thru the MMA fighting as my son Greg is a pro MMA fighter. After 10 knee operations 2 total knee replacements with a steel rod in my left leg I have a very rare decease that my body makes excessive scar tissue. I have negative 11 degree bend and cannot bend my left leg. This has put a hardship on my life style. I gained too much weight and scaled about 315 lbs. I spoke with THE BEAST about what we could do. I joined Anytime Fitness and under the guidance of Mark he put me on a rigid training program to help but NOT hurt my progress. He encouraged me thru out the program, after 6 months I have lost 36 lbs have gained more motion in my left knee and my right knee is much stronger than before. I have been walking straighter though still with a limp. I always used an electric mobility cart to get around and a cane.. With Marks guidance and his training expertise I can walk without the cart and I use my cane on a limited basis. I have been feeling better all around and I feel better about myself. My goal is to lose 30 more lbs and gain muscle mass. My weight is down to 280 lbs and my goal is to be 250 by next summer. Mark will make me thru his BEAST MODE accomplish my goal
