For many years now I have often dealt with others in My Industry critiquing my style of Branding or Training or Coaching...
Its funny because when I went back to school in 2010 we spent a full lecture on "the most successful Trainers are not necessarily the ones who do the best work but are the ones that can make the best ones look bad."
This past week I had my use of the terms "Puker" and "Stealing Souls" used as an example of how NOT to market or talk about Clients.
So lets delve into this a bit...
First of all when I refer to someone as a Puker it is someone who has worked out hard enough to have to toss their cookies BUT came back and finished. The people I refer to as this wear the title as a badge of honor.
Further most of the clients that get to that point are Athletes or Cage Fighters... Clearly I am not going to push a 78 year old man to the point of puking...
Now to address "Stealing Souls." When I refer to stealing souls it means that I am going to work my client(s) HARD. Again not every client needs to be worked that hard but the ones that do appreciate that refer to it as something so aggressive...
The whole point well maybe there are a few points to this blog is make you aware that yes I am aggressive with my Training/ Coaching but my aggression is designed and meets the needs of the client(s) being worked... My marketing is intimidating because I do not work with people who will not put in the effort. I dont work for a Corporate Gym I work for myself as a part of a very successful Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy which trains Grapplers Muay Thai and MMA...
I train/coach Grapplers Fighters their families and some General Population that come in because they have heard of me...
I work up to 62 hours a week and business is good and strong and I literally have a 100 success rate because I will not allow a client to have goals they cannot achieve. If they come to me with goals like that we either modify them or I tell them we cannot do what they hope to do and Im sorry but I cannot help you unless we change the goals.
There are many ways to get the same goals accomplished in my industry and I try never to publicly call out things about other Trainers/Coaches that I dont agree with. I much rather just show how proud I am of what My Clients have achieved...
Finally the fact that what seems to be a fairly large amount of Trainers/Coaches in my local area are using my own tag lines in their rants about how NOT to market and train clearly shows that my success is not only real but is creating some jealousy...
So we all win!!
